Gargoyles: Type, Textures & Architecture

Now that I have done my research into Gargoyles (what they are and how they are used), I now need to decide what type of gargoyle to create, the textures and features it will have, and where it will go.

My main and primary idea right off the bat, was that i wanted to do a beast type gargoyle, so i considered my options and chose these types of beast's to turn into gargoyles:
(I will cover the moodboards with quick sentences to save time writing bits about each picture).

Dragon

At the beginning this was probably one of the more popular choices when people where coming up with ideas, however only now some people have chosen this at a final choice, I like the idea however I decided not to do a dragon and keep my options open.

Dragons: Mainly used for the scaly reptilian bodies, probably would have iterated the wings a bit to make it different. 

Chimera

This was my favourite choice because it meant that I had more freedom to play around with my creations and get used to the tools more, some of my initial ideas where a mixture of a pig and a bat but that changed with the process. By combining two or three animals into some scary looking chimera is what i wanted my original gargoyle to look like.

Main animals: Mainly looking at how different beasts are combined and which are the favourites to draw, mostly lions with snakes, i'll try to avoid that.

Demon

I was considering doing a demon at the beginning as well, I was thinking about maybe doing a demon and sticking it on a church, considering how demons oppose religion and let their darker emotions take over, so it would be chained down, stopping it from hurting anyone.

Demonic Beasts: I like the armour one at the top, most designs are either feline like, (lion, tiger) or insects, I looked at these to see how i can give my gargoyle that scary look to it. Now I'm gonna look at Textures.

Looking at the textures, I find that my best choice will probably be stone, So long as I can keep my details on my sculpt to a certain level, this texture will suit it just fine, I can also make it look old and jagged to give it a look that it can stand firm under the situations.

I have chosen between cathedrals and castles, I believe that a castle gargoyle would be better suited for a chimera beast, whereas the cathedrals would be better suited for demons or dragons.  Again this all depend on my final sculpt decision, but i'm favouring more towards the castle than the cathedrals.
